Highly usable Job Site with Code On Time

We all know that Customers demand more and more all the time.  But the learning of development teams does not keep pace with it.  Then, what would be the plight of a Business Owner ?  My struggle to keep pace with ever emerging technologies, training my development team, or giving time to them to learn got on my nerves.  The bug of FORWARD COMPATIBILITY and multiple browsers compatibility has bitten me the most.  I was frantically looking for solutions.

It is just not feasible to pressurize the development team to learn forever and go on producing things to please customers.  Their learning hits a saturation as they put up experience.

One of my frantic searches resulted in code generation tools that led me to Code On Time.  Taking a decision to use it was also a big one in my business.  It takes a whole lot of effort to convince all of my stakeholdes to get on to that kind of tool.  I was jeered and booed for my decision by quite a few  colleagues.  But, I stuck to my decision and went about learning the tool.  The tutorials gave me an initial headway.  However, nothing to beat experimentation and have a feel for where to do modifications to get the required effect.  Only this can take us forward. After this it becomes a question of taking decisions - to write rules or use the in-built designer.

The revelations of our adaptability were very pleasing; my team resisted all attempts initially.  As they saw the sleekness in the application, they also started adapting it willingly.  To overcome the initial hump was quite bold on my part.  I almost lost a customer because of this, but gained them back too after demo.

Code On Time is a BIG help for IT Solution Business Owners.

I am attaching some of the screenshots of the final application:

  1. Hi, thanks for your previous reply. Please i am very sorry if i have to ask favor(considering any inconvenience) with regards to getting some clarity on the COT based on these questions below.

I have started evaluating COT by taking on a small web project of a school management system. So i am kind of new to COT ,i would like to know how to convert the currency from dollar to other currencies. Also i would like to know if COT automatically assigns foreign key relationship between tables without us manually writing db script for that eg ALTER TABLE[],ADD CONSTRAINT,FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES. I would also like to know with regards to stored procedures would i manually write them or does the too automatically defines/generate them.

Also one important question is that ,I have been reading about how the tool sets up foreign key relationship and based on my understanding its advisable to LET IT discover them and make use of them. Then only it works correctly. If you do not let this process do its work by building virtual keys, build its read-only memory, system variables and all if not you are in for trouble with your application.i ask this because i am use to defining my foreign key relationship in my tables using the sql management studio tool and also setting up an ERD diagram to define them.I havent gotten any reply on the forums that is why i have contacted you. Thanks as your reply.Thank you

  2. Hi Thomas, Hands-on experience works like elixir for developers. So it is good that you are trying and wondering about things. Go on with them.

Your internal customers describe an end user's requirement to you and you are converting that knowledge into your ERD to later develop code around it. At times you will have problems defining these entity relationships for lack of clarity. That time do not use your idea of inter relationships. Define only those where you have clarity. Leave the rest of it to COT. It will build virtual keys. My recommendation is - make use of them to build your coding logic.

COT does not build stored procedures. You will have to write them yourself.

    Hope this helps.

  3. yes, thanks.i have overcome some of the challenges i noticed when i specify multiple foreign keys on a table COT creates and duplicate values fields. But i manually deleted some of them that arent important. But i have one more challenge ,please i would like to know how to utilize the culture settings in COT in generating unique currencies like for example Ghanian cede (C500) or N500.Most of the currency appears in dollars. The explanation the customer care gave me was very difficult for me to follow because i am just having a first time experience with COT.The problem is that the specific currency symbol i want to use is not available in the list of COT globalization & localization settings. Please any help in form of an easy to follow guide or sample will be immensely appreciated.God Bless....
